Uno de mis videos favoritos: el de Street Spirit de Radiohead.
Buscando su director (Jonathan Glazer) encontré con unas palabras de Thom Yorke acerca de la canción, y ahora la escucho de una manera muy distinta. Dijo que esa era su canción más pura y que no la habían escrito ellos, sino que habían sido sus catalizadores biológicos.
El video es brutal. Se usó una cámara que lanzara muchísimos cuadros por segundo (fps) para poder hacer esos efectos de slow motion. También hay unos movimientos de luces geniales.
Para Yorke, Street Spirit es el túnel oscuro que no tiene la luz al final, y su manera de aguantar la canción es desprenderse emocionalmente de ella, sino no podría tocarla, colapsaría en el escenario. " Our fans are braver than I to let that song penetrate them, or maybe they don't realise what they're listening to. They don't realise that Street Spirit is about staring the fucking devil right in the eyes, and knowing, no matter what the hell you do, he'll get the last laugh. And it's real, and true. The devil really will get the last laugh in all cases without exception, and if I let myself think about that too long, I'd crack."
Y para rematar: "It drains me, and it shakes me, and hurts like hell every time I play it, looking out at thousands of people cheering and smiling, oblivious to the tragedy of its meaning, like when you're going to have your dog put down and it's wagging its tail on the way there. "
Si es bien intenso el video, que para mi es arte puro. El feeling de la canción también es bastante intenso, pero creo que le ganó la explicación del mismo compositor. Digo, del mismo catalizador biológico.
